This is a reproduction of the eponymous canvas, printed on a copper roll at the Oberkampf manufactory in Jouy-en-Josas around 1808. The designer was inspired by the works of the painter Louis-François Cassas. Following Napoleon Bonaparte's Egyptian campaigns in 1798, France experienced an unprecedented craze for this civilization. The decorative arts, particularly textiles, reflect this enthusiasm.

Large in scale, a dramatic statement.  Exhibited by us at Oxford University.

Available by the linear metre.
